Saturday Tailgating

Fire up the grills,  Its time for BBQ and Football!!!!!

This is one of my personal favorites to make.  Bacon explosion is a great dish for any football fan to enjoy. It combines hot and spicy sausage, apple wood smoked bacon, and  barbeque sauce. It can be bake it in the oven, but to get the best flavors I recommend smoking.  I personally make my own barbeque sauce but you cant go wrong with Heinz Memphis Style sweet and spicy.

For sides I enjoy baked beans, coleslaw and an ice cold beer. Hawaiian sweet bread on the side is the perfect bread for this master piece.

Get the grills out and enjoy the football weekend. I know I'm going to!!

Pilsner Urquell - A Taste for a Tuesday

Hey Everybody!  "Great White" checking in here. I understand it's the middle of the week and drinking shouldn't be encouraged....but to hell with it! Live Life!

-That being said.. normally I sip on Red Wine during a non-weekend/non-football day. However, I got some chicken wings in the oven. So, what goes well with chicken wings? BEER!  Now normally, "Great White" ain't a heavy beer drinker but I'm sippin tonight.  Let me tell you why.

- I was at a Chicago White Sox game in May with a few of my co-workers.  One of them is a 70 year old, Irish season-ticket holder, of 4 seats, for all home games,  He was gracious enough to invite me (He didn't know how much of a die hard Cubs fan I am).  Let me also add this guy can drink you under the table, despite his age.  Around the bottom of the 1st inning he went up to get us our first round of beers.  He came back with this funky looking can with the words "Pilsner Urquell"

This by far is the BEST beer I have ever had.  It's an Import Lager from the Czech Republic.  About 4.4% alcohol content.  This beer sneaked up on me as I kept ordering another one every 2 innings.  Luckily, I had my 70-year old Irishman keeping up with me. My favorite part?  Maybe because I was off my ass by Inning 6, but I was absolutely amused every time my Irish co-worker kept getting us rounds, and came back with another different looking beer can (as pictured).
Anyway, my chicken is about finished and I'm about to grub with a nice cold one. That being said, I thoroughly suggest it.  Go pick it up for Thursday Night Football at the very least.  HAPPY BETTING & HAPPY DRINKING! TNF features New York Jets (pk) vs. Buffalo.  My pick will be posted by Tomorrow night.

Heisman Race

After two weeks we do have a clear front runner for the Heisman trophy. Lamar Jackson has been amazing the first two weeks of the season. Yes it was against Charlotte and Syracuse, but the stats are overwhelming. 1,015 total yards and 13 touchdowns. Jackson get his first real test of the season Saturday at noon against #2 Florida State.  I for one cant wait for this match up.

#1 Lamar Jackson, Louisville: 13 total tds and 1,015 total yards

#2 Greg Ward jr, Houston: He missed last week with a sore shoulder but still is in the second spot for us.

#3 Christian McCaffrey, Stanford: Off week 2, big chance to get rolling in the next few weeks

#4 Kalen Ballage, Arizona State: 8 tds against a power five team (even if it is Texas Tech) I don't expect him to hold this spot for long.

#5 Nick Chubb, Georgia: off week last week. Looking to see if he gets back to week one form

Second half pick

Going to double down on the Bears for the second half!
Bears +4 second half!!

Top NFL picks for Sunday

With it just being week one the NFL works out a little different than College. While betting college football there are so many option. The NFL has a very limited amount of games.  So today we only have two picks for you.

The Texans went out and got the free agents they wanted and think that Brock could be the guy to lead them to an AFC championship this year. I see them running Miller a lot and setting up down field opportunities for Hopkins and Fuller.  The Bears will counter on Offense with a quick passing game built around TE Miller, and screens. I usually go with the best Defense in these types of games but not today.

Great White Pick: Chicago +5

Bonus : Green Bay -6

Todays Top Picks College Football

We start with The Ohio State. Probably the most dominate team from week 1 returns to take on a Tulsa team that can let off some fire works of their own.  Tulsa will make a few plays here and there and while the Buckeyes always seem to have that one game a year when they let a lesser non-conference opponent hang around way to long, I don't think that is going to happen this game. Ohio State puts up another impressive showing today.

Ohio State -28 (buy the hook)

Baylor was very, very explosive while being a -50 against Northwestern State. But in being so explosive they also called off the dogs and put there second and third strings in to leave the betting public to get back doored.  I don't think this happens against SMU. Last year SMU was in the game up until the fourth quarter and Sutton might be the best player on the field in my opinion. Baylor still has a chip on that shoulder.

Baylor -32

Texas Tech @ Arizona State. Points, Points Points!!!!!!! enough said

Over 79

UCLA lost a heartbreaker last week, after a furious fourth quarter comeback they could not finish it off in overtime. Enter UNLV, UCLA comes out focused and ready to play from the start. UNLV will make some plays much like Tulsa, but Rosen becomes Rosen today. I see 4 to 5 TDS from him in a route

UCLA -26

Youngstown St. @ WVU

WVU seems to be leaning on Tony Gibson and his defense again this year. The defense played fast and loose against Missouri last weekend. Blitzing and playing a bend but don't break style as we have become accustomed to with the 3-3-5. Defense gave up 462 yards but only 11 points on th scoreboard.

The Mountaineers offense has to get better in the red zone. They put up 494 yards and had to settle for four field goals. That is not a way to win games when Big XII conference play begins.

Bo Pelini brings in a stingy defense with the Penguins that can create turnovers if the Mountaineers are not ready to play and get careless. QB Ricky Davis was very efficient with his throws in week 1 but it was his 74 rushing yards that makes him dangerous.

WVU defense should blitz a lot and pressure Davis into 2 ints and frustrate him the whole game. WVU offense will control the line of scrimmage and will become a run first offense. WVU wins this one not sure if it will be impressive or not though.
